They are highly-cohesive silicone gel prostheses and, in case of rupture, since it does not hold liquid content, it cannot be spread out. There are round or anatomical prostheses of several different volumes. How long should I be away from work after undergoing a breast augmentation surgery?

In cases with women whose mammary implants have been placed in the subpectoral plane, they must wait a week to join in their working life if their job is sedentary (students or administratives). By contrast, if their work is more physical, the must wait at least two weeks. In the case of the subglandular plane, the incorporation to almost every work can take place between 5-7 days after the surgery.

What is a capsular contracture in breast augmentation surgery?

It is the most frequent later complication after a breast augmentation surgery. The capsular contracture is an exaggerated reaction of the organism generated as a rejection to the prosthesis. A capsule of connective tissue is formed to cover the prosthesis and retract the surrounding tissues which may cause pain and a poor aesthetic appearance. About 2-3% of the patients develop capsular contracture.
